Methodological Approach

The focus of the study has been on the evaluation of the suitability/feasibility of the site for the development of the nuclear power plant. This would involve developing a criteria for establishing the site suitability. Accordingly, an effort was directed towards evolving a criteria both based on scientific facts that could be collected from field observations and also based on technical and pragmatic considerations that establish significance of the site characteristics.
For a study of this nature, involving, considerations and reconsiderations of earlier approvals of a site for the atomic power plant, it is extremely crucial to have adequate understanding and background information of the project's initial planning phase. This is imperative for developing understanding of the reasoning and logic that guided the earlier choices of site and the technological considerations. The site visits provide an added advantage of increased familiarity with the site environment and the much needed insight into environmental considerations associated with the project.
The following steps were taken to ensure acquisition of basic skills and tools for conducting the preliminary environmental analysis of the proposed Nuclear Power Station at Nagarjunasagar.
