3.1 COLLECTION OF DOCUMENTED INFORMATION

Relevant details of the project profile and the preliminary investigations/surveys conducted in different phases of the project planning were accessed from the documents provided by the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Board. The toposheets on the scale of 1:50,000, maps provided by the project proponents and the interpreted results of the remote sensing surveys undertaken by Indian Resources Information & Management Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (IN-RIMT), Hyderabad, 1994 provided the pre-requisites for planning field investigations. Other useful sources that greatly enhanced our understanding of the biological and ecological characteristics of the project site were interactions with the officials of the Andhra Pradesh Forest Dept
