Nuclear power project

3.2 DELINEATION OF THE SURVEY AREA
The environmental consequences of the project is a function of both the project and the receiving environment (Anon., 1978). The sensitivity of the environment and the profile of the project both determine the nature and magnitude of a range of impacts that are likely to occur. Since there is still a general lack of information of the project design and operation, there is no means to infer the temporal nor the spatial limits of the impacts that the project are likely to trigger. This also leads to greater uncertainties in delineation of the study zones for evaluating the total project impacts. The guidelines for siting industries issued by Ministry of Environment and Forests, 1984 do provide some justification for limiting the impact assessment studies within 25 km radial zone of the project site. All observations to address the objectives of the study were confined within this zone.
