3.3 RECONNAISSANCE OF THE PROJECT AREA

WII team assisted by the officials of APSEB and the Andhra Pradesh Forest Deptt. conducted a reconnaissance of the delineated area during the month of October, 1996. Visual observation were made of the ecological, and biological features within the 25 km radial zone (Fig. 2). Observations on the status of wildlife habitats and the occurrence of wildlife species were made in all the block of Reserved Forest Areas of Adavidevulappally, Ragadappa, Mulkacherla, Nellikkal, Rajavaram; Nellikkal extension in Myrialguda range and Rayavaram, Nambapur, Suriyaraopet, Azmapur I and II, Ghatnemilipur, Nidgul and Kanapur in Devarkonda range in Nalgonda Forest Division.

In addition to scant information generated during reconnaissance, secondary information from all possible sources was substantially used for evaluating the ecological characteristics and conservation significance of the proposed site.
