M/s Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) a public sector undertaking proposes to lay a 361 km pipeline for the transportation of refined products from their refinery at Bina in Madhya Pradesh to high consumption areas in Uttar Pradesh and other neighbouring states.

Since this kind of linear development project would obviously involve the alignment of pipeline through terrestrial and aquatic wildlife habitats, an ecological assessment of the pipeline corridor is essential for integrating ecological concerns into developmental planning.

This document is an outcome of the impact assessment studies conducted for Bina-Jhansi-Kanpur Pipeline Project with special emphasis on the ecological assessment of the project area. Specific impacts on the habitats en route the pipeline have been identified. Ameliorative measures have also been suggested wherever they have been appropriate and necessary for the mitigation of project impacts.
