Proposed Project
|
The prime consideration for setting up of the Hydrotreatment Plant is to upgrade Light Gas Oil (LGO), presently being blended into Light Diesel Oil (LDO), the high value High Speed Diesel (HSD), which is in great demand in the country and to gainfully utilise the hydrogen available from the Reformer Unit of BRPL's Xylene Plant. The proposed plant is to treat the LGO currently available from the existing Delayed Coking Unit and the additional quantity of LGO that would be available from the new Delayed Coking Unit, which is being setup as part of the Refinery Expansion Project and due for completion shortly. The present capacity of Bongaigaon Refinery is 1.35 million tonnes per annum (TPA) which is being expanded to 2.35 million tonnes per annum. The availability of LGO from the Refinery after expansion would be 1,35,000 TPA. The proposed Hydrotreatment Plant would produce 132,975 TPA of Hydrotreated LGO suitable for blending into HSD pool of the refinery and 2,947 TPA of wild gasoline. The Hydrotreatment would involve treating the LGO with hydrogen in the presence of a suitable catalyst. The operating temperature and pressure would be of the order of 330°C and 50-60 atmospheres respectively. |
