Environmental Impact Assessment of developments in the energy sector command major significance. The spatial and temporal attributes of the impacts of such developments often place greater thrust on their assessment for evolving effective, preventive and ameliorative safeguards.

This report is an outcome of a short term ecological assessment of proposed hydrotreatment plant undertaken by the Wildlife Institute of India under the consultancy offer of M/s Bongaigaon Refineries and Petrochemicals Ltd., Bongaigaon. An attempt has been made in this report to highlight the ecological and conservation significance of the Wildlife habitats in the vicinity of the project location and to identify the nature of the likely impacts of the proposed expansion.

The report has drawn extensively from the documented information and the field based observation to project the baseline scenario of the project environment and the impacts likely to occur from the establishment of the hydrotreatment plant.
