The focus of the study is the evaluation of ecological impacts of the proposed hydrotreatment plant within the BRPL complex. Recognition and identification of the ecological areas of significance within the study area, and the comprehensive understanding of the project (including the details of the design and the proposed activities in the commissioning phase) are the two important prerequisites for determining the impact potential of the proposed expansion on the ecological system. It is therefore extremely important to collate information both on the ecological environment and the project environment, prior attempting an assessment of the magnitude of impacts. The following steps were undertaken to ensure acquisition of relevant information on the above aspects of environment.
