Conclusions and Recommendations

back

The following conclusions have been drawn from the EIA studies of the proposed pipeline project.

5.1 CONCLUSIONS

1. The pipeline route has been aligned mostly in agricultural fields.

2. The pipeline route does not traverse through any National Park or Wildlife Sanctuary.

3. The proposed pipeline would cross three wetlands.

4. The status of all the three wetlands indicates low wildlife values.

5. Only one endangered species i.e. Marsh Crocodile was reported in the Dhadhar river, but it is not a resident species in this river.

6. Any project related construction activity on Dhadhar river during monsoon would be detrimental to Marsh Crocodile population.

7. Migratory waterfowl have not been reported from any of these wetland habitats.

8. Aladar creek is already impacted upon by the disturbances associated with the ongoing oil drilling activities of ONGC.

5.2 RECOMMENDATIONS
No significant impacts of this pipeline project have been visualised on wildlife species and their habitat. It is recommended that the project implementing agency should take necessary precautions during construction and post construction phases to prevent the further decline of already low values of the wetlands. The minimal damage during the construction phase both in terms of area and quality of environment and adequate safety measures to prevent leakage or ruptures of pipelines will have to be still ensured.
