A plot area of 80m x 78m west of the crude distillation unit within the existing refinery complex of Bongaigaon Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (BRPL), Bongaigaon, Assam has been identified to establish the hydrotreatment. The overall plot plan of the BRPL complex is given in Appendix - I.
The following are some of the merits of the above site for proposed development.

The area is located within the existing complex of BRPL

The site for hydrotreatment plant is nearer to the tank farm, utility block and control room.

The unit when implemented would be close to Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and Delayed Coking Unit (DCU), thereby giving flexibility in operation and maintenance of the unit by the operation/maintenance staff of the plants.

The plot surrounding has an already developed road network and industrial and sanitary sewage systems.

The source of hydrogen will be nearer and the purge gas (fuel gas) generated can be routed back easily to the petrochemical fuel gas system.

The control panels for the plant can be easily installed in the Control Room of the existing refinery units thereby avoiding the construction of a new Control Room for Hydrotreatment Unit.
