Since the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a mandatory requirements of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, for the environmental clearance of the development projects, M/s. Bongaigaon Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (BRPL), Dhaligaon offered a consultancy project to WII to undertake specific studies that are required as a part of comprehensive EIA of the proposed project. As per the Term of Reference (ToR), the following is the scope of work under the consultancy offer to WII.

i. Review the project in the light of legislations for the protection of forest and wildlife.

ii. Assessment of the baseline status of forests and other wildlife habitats and the species in the project area.

iii. Assessment of the impacts of proposed project on forest/wildlife habitats.

iv. Preparation of Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for forest/wildlife protection during construction and operational phases of the project.

The present thus report aims to provide an ecological assessment of the Hydrotreatment plant, proposed under the Refinery Expansion Program, of Bongaigaon Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (BRPL), Dhaligaon, Assam.
