Field studies are critical for developing first hand knowledge of landscape features and the ecological profile of the study area. Field visits not only help in validation of the existing trends of ecological baseline but provide appropriate opportunities to supplement additional information relevant for identification of sources of ecological stress and more specific biodiversity related impacts. Accordingly, site visit and detailed survey of the areas of proposed cement plant, limestone lease area and their surrounds including protected forests and other forest areas contiguous with the mining lease area were made (Plate 1) between 8th and 15th December 2004(Annexure – IV).
