Consultation

Consultation with project planners fulfilled the essential requirement for technical information about the project to aid better interpretation of the project profile and the likely sources of ecological impacts. Consultation with project staff of M/s Harish Cements Ltd. was helpful in onsite delineation of physical limits of the mine and cement plant unit and in the appraisal of the design features, process details and schedules for construction and operation of the project. This facilitated in interpretation of the potential sources of stress on the biodiversity values of the area. For obtaining information on the biological receptors of the potential impacts, the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department (HPFD) represented an important stakeholder in the consultation process. Field staff of the HPFD and PA Management was consulted on matters related to identification of forest area categories (i.e. Protected Forest, Nature Awareness Centre, and Wildlife Sanctuary); their administrative boundaries, status of floral and faunal species and past records of wildlife census. Annexure – III provides the list of persons consulted.
