Mining operation

The deposit is considered to be amenable to full scale mechanized opencast mining operations. The limestone mine shall be opened up initially at village Keran located 4.5 km north of Bandli Sanctuary and subsequently another mine face shall be opened near village Bari which is located about 2.5 km from the boundary of Bandli Wildlife Sanctuary. The year wise schedule proposed for mining is presented in Table 3.1 and spatially represented in Fig. 3.
Mining would be carried out by construction of benches. About 4 to 6 benches each of 6 m height and 20-30 m width with a slope angle of 80 degrees shall be opened. The exposed limestone beds shall be drilled using DTH crawler (100-115 mm diameter) mounted drill machine and blasted with a suitable combination of explosives (ANFO as column charge, OCG/Power gel as booster charge, Cordtex detonating Fuse and Electric mili second delay detonators). Large size boulders generated during blasting shall be reduced to smaller size by secondary drilling using hand held jack hammer drills and blasting. The blasted limestone shall be excavated and loaded by 2.8 m3 bucket capacity hydraulic excavators and loaded into off-highway rear dumpers with related pay load capacity of 31752 kg and transported to the crushers/stacks/ dump yards. Considering the extent of mining operations, topography, and location of proposed plant and comparative advantages of transportation of crushed limestone, the location of crusher is proposed at Bagain near the mining area. The crushed limestone shall be transported to stockpile at plant site by the belt conveyor. |
