Recommended Improvements

The Kirloskar report has not been submitted to the MOEF and we recommend that the following revisions and additions be made before the document leaves the APRBD:

1) provide a revised and corrected study area map, supported by a revised text which clearly defines the project in relation to surrounding sensitive areas;

2) identify all significant sources of impact and the effects during construction and operation periods;

3) provide a summary of what is known of the vehicle-wildlife and predator-prey interactions, and how these two sets of interactions relate, along the NGT road;

4) add discussion on the ecological implications for wildlife values, including highlights of the effects on the key predators and their prey;

5) add a discussion on the 3-4 reserve forests through which the road passes;

6) Revise the EMP by incorporating information from WII-CEC; and

7) Provide an EMP implementation bar chart as part of the EMP document.

The requisite information for making the modifications recommended above is provided in this report in appropriate sections. Finally, we recommend that Kirloskar be given the opportunity to have their revised draft IEE reviewed by CEC before it is submitted to the MOEF.
