World Heritage Day Celebrations : Cultural evening
Evening saw a cultural evening celebrating World Heritage Day where performers drawn from researchers, local colleges and staff family members put up a memorable show. Ms. Diksha Talukdar initiated the proceedings with her rendering of the Ganesh Vandana before Dr. Ruchi Badola, Dean & Registrar, WII formally inaugurated the function through the traditional lamp lighting ceremony.
The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) team put up a creative choreography of the Namami Gange theme song. The Graphic Era Global School’s choir gave the gathered audience a powerful display of singing, followed by a series of traditional dances put together by school students and staff children including Rajasthani, Nepali, Assamese and a medley of folk dances.
Ms. Shrajani performed a dance to “Buyra Luit Buwa Kivo”, a song much venerated in Assamese culture before Shubhayu and Mebin Aby Jose sang a medley of folk songs to the accompaniment of a guitar. A final series of group dances by Uttaranchal College and NMCG – Punjabi, Garhwali and the unifying Desh Rangeela with the active support of the audience closed the World Heritage Day programme on a shared note as indeed heritage is supposed to be.

Celebration of World Heritage Day 2022
WII-C2C organized the celebration of World Heritage Day 2022 on 18th April 2022 through a series of activities for local schoolchildren. The pre-lunch session was attended by 24 students of Raja Rammohan Roy Academy, 28 students of Graphic Era Global School, 25 students of St. Paul’s and 25 students of St. Mary’s. The session began with a welcome note by Dr. Gautam Talukdar, Faculty In-Charge, WII-C2C introducing the students to the concept of World Heritage Day & this year’s theme “Heritage and Climate” and Dr. Ruchi Badola, Dean & Registrar, WII encouraging the students to share their understanding of heritage and develop it further.
The students enthusiastically participated in the Art Competition based on themes of “Our Natural Heritage” and “Threats Associated With Natural Heritage” submitting creative artwork which amply conveyed the same. The prize winners in the same were Adamya Sharma (1st), Manish Garg (2nd) and Kartik Barmola (3rd) in the Junior Category (Classes 6-7) and Lakshita Thapa (1st), Manas Gulati (2nd), and Ram Vishal (3rd) in the Senior Category (Classes 8-9-10). This was followed by a trivia quiz competition “World Heritage Around The World” centred on World Heritage Sites where the prize-winners were the teams from St. Mary’s Secondary School (1st), Graphic Era Global School (2nd) and Raja Ram Mohan Academy (3rd). Thereafter, prizes were distributed to the winning students by Dr. Ruchi Badola bringing the pre-lunch programme for celebration of World Heritage Day to an end.

Releasing the book "Ganga ki kahani Prahariyon ki jubani"
Hon’ble Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri Gajendra Singh Sekhawat, releasing the book "Ganga ki kahani Prahariyon ki jubani" and 7 information brochures during the review of NMCG and NRCD sponsored River Conservation Project and expressed his happiness with the progress of both the projects.

WII and Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) signs academic agreement
Monday (March 7th, 2022) has been a landmark day, when WII has signed an agreement with the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR); through the agreement, WII will be recognized as AcSIR’s Associate Academic Center, for obtaining both M.Sc. and PhD degrees from AcSIR. AcSIR was established by an Act of Parliament, viz. the Academy of Scientific Innovative Research Act, 2011 notified by the Central Government vide The Gazette of India notification No.15 dated February 7, 2012. It is also recognized as an ‘Institution of National Importance’ (INI) with a goal to create the highest quality personnel with cross- disciplinary knowledge, aiming to provide leaders in the field of science and technology. AcSIR recognizes 53 National Institutes of the country including all CSIR institutions.
The MoU was signed by the Director of WII, Dr. Dhananjai Mohan, and the Director of AcSIR, Dr. Rajender S Sangwan in Dehradun in presence of other higher officials of both the Institution. As part of this MoU, students will be mentored by WII scientists, who would be recognized as honorary faculty of AcSIR. There is also future scope of widened programs/activities that may be taken up jointly by AcSIR and WII, as and when required. Over the last decades, WII’s M.Sc. Wildlife science course has emerged as one of the leading course for aspiring wildlife science students in the Asia-Pacific region. The next batch of the course is now likely to commence from August 2022 at WII for award of first AcSIR degree.

Postpone of GSDP Course(s) to be organized by the ENVISRP, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun for Financial Year 2021-22
This is to inform that due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic issues, ENVIS Resource Partner, Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun has to postpone its all GSDP Courses till the situation is conducive.
