General Guidelines for Felling

back

1. The calendar year of forest scheduling is purposely not indicated to ensure that felling is done after the construction is initiated and the impoundment is likely in the next rains.

2. Ranges have not been indicated, because the distribution of fellings will not be by territorial ranges and felling operations will be handled by special Forest Division.

3. Rules of exploitation are already reasonably well developed and depots for sale of the produce have also been existing at suitable places.

4. Felling will be done, only up to the level stipulated by Govt. of India, which at present appears to be eight meters below FRL. This stipulation is under correspondence by NVDA with the Govt. of India, in view of the fact that this reservoir will not normally have much draw down effect, because of replenishment from the Indira Sagar power house. As such, on decision of this level, the relevant level line should be got marked on the ground through NVDA/NHDC and felling be carried up to that level only.

5. The area for felling, mentioned in the Tables, corresponds to the area at FRL only for purposes of cross-check of areas and does not refer to the area actually to be felled, which will be lesser than this area, depending upon the level to which the fellings are to be carried out as per G.O.I. order.
