Primary data was collected by examining the proposed route of the pipeline in the sanctuary .Sample were located along the entire length of the pipeline route and at each site observations for the presence of aquatic species were made in an area 500 meter upstream and downstream. In the terrestrial habitat,. straight line foot transects of one km length from the edge of the water were laid and checked for presence of animals and their indirect evidences like droppings, spraints and trails. Constant monitoring of certain predetermined spots along the pipeline route was undertaken to locate breeding/basking sites of Gharial and other aquatic species.
