The major impacts of the project are expected to occur during construction phase. However the extent of impacts on river ecology depends on the choice of the technology used in river crossing, the time of year when this activity would take place, duration of the construction phase and the manpower and equipment involved. Neither GAll nor Ell have so far confirmed whether horizontal directional drilling or open cut method (described later) would be employed for laying the pipeline across Chambal as the soil report is still awaited.

Irrespective of the choice of technology that will be adopted for laying the pipeline across Chambal, the following are the anticipated impacts on different ecosystem aspects of the sanctuary.
