A 30 km stretch of the existing pipeline passing through Raghogarh and Gadher Reserved and Protected forest of Guna Forest Division of Gwalior circle forms a part of the study area in addition to the three study areas discussed earlier (Fig. 3.1). The Raghogarh and Gadher forest areas have moderately undulating terrain. The rock formation varies from Deccan traps in the southern and western parts and Vindhyan sandstones in the central and northern portion. The Vindhyan sandstone on disintegration proquce shallow red and gravely soil. Such shallow soils with underlying rock exposed in some areas support miscellaneous forests (Sharma 1984).
