Fauna

Ramsagar lake is an extremely important wetland habitat for a wide variety of migratory waterfowls. As many as 78 species of wetland birds are reported to be using this area. Notable among these are large number of storks, pelicans, cranes, ducks and geese. The area is especially important as a wintering area for Bar headed goose (Anser indicus), Red shank (Tringa toltanus) common sandpiper (Tringa totanus), Little stint (Calidris minuta) and Indian skimmer (Rynchops ablicollis). The wetland value of Ramsagar is further enhanced by some of the migratory birds which are using this wetland during their migration to and from Keoladeo National Park. |
