The vegetation of the area consists of dry deciduous thorn forest. The major tree and shrub species are Acacia nilotica, A. leucophloea, A. catechu, Prosopis juliflora, P. spicigera, Anogesisous. pendula, Grewia optiva, Dalbergia sissoo, Zizyphus mauritiana, Z. fruiticosa, Salvadora persica, Capparis aphyla, C. sepiaria, Calotropis gigantica and Carissa opaca. Tamarix dioca is the major xerophytic plant found along the water edges in some parts of the sanctuary .The major aquatic vegetation consists of Hydrilla verticillate, Vallisnaria spiralis, Potomogeton spp., Imperata cylindrica, Typha spp., Nitella spp., Chara spp. and Zommenchelia spp.
