About 15 acres of land within the existing complex of BRPL will be used for this project. The proposed project shall comprise of the following units.

ii. Hydrogen Generation Unit (HGU) 17,500 TPA
iii. Amine Absorption Unit (AAU) 22,000 TPA
iv. Amine Regeneration Unit (ARU) 75,200 TPA
v. Sour Water Stripping Unit (SWSU) 12.5 M3 /HR
vi. Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU) 5.0 TPA
vii. Vaccum Distillation Unit (VDU) 937,000 TPA

The plot plan of the above project is placed as Fig. 1.

To meet the new HSD specifications, the entire quantity of diesel streams are required to treated in a new DHPU. Hydro treating reactions are achieved in the DHPU by the use of selected catalysis and operating conditions. These reactions consume hydrogen. The hydrogen requirement of DHPU is proposed to be met from a new Hydrogen Generation Unit (HGU). The HGU is based on naptha steam reforming process. a Pressure Swing Absorption Unit has been considered as an integral part of HGU to meet the hydrogen purity.

H2S bearing fuel gas produced from DHPU is sent to a new Amine Absorption Unit (AAU) to remove H2S from it with lean amine solution. 25% DEA solution to AAU is supplied from Amine Regeneration Unit (ARU). The rich amine from AAU is sent to a new Amine Regeneration Unit (ARU) and the sweet fuel gas is sent to fuel gas network.

Rich amine from the AAU is regenerated in the ARU. The regenerated amine is circulated back to the AAU and the acid gas containing H2S is sent to a new Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU) for production of elemental sulphur.

Sour water from the DHPU is sent to a new Sour Water Stripping Unit (SWSU) for removal of H2S and NH3 from it. The acid gas containing H2S and NH3 is sent to a new Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU) for production of elemental sulphur. SRU is considered to be based on modified clause process with sulphur recovery efficiency of 96%. In view of small size of SRU, no palletizing of the sulphur product has been considered. Liquid sulphur is to be solidified in the sulphur yard and the solid sulphur is dispatched through trucks.

In order to maximize the production of HSD, a new Vaccum Distillation Unit with a design capacity of 937,000 TPA of 370oC+ RCO available from processing of Assam and Imported crude in their Crude Distillation Unit has been considered as part of project.
