Expressway projects

Considering the ever increasing traffic demand on major roadlinks connecting Mumbai, the commercial capital of India, with the rest of the country, Government of Maharashtra has acknowledged the pressing need for developing high speed facility on main arteries i.e. Mumbai - Pune - Kolhapur section of National Highway NH-4, Mumbai - Thane - Nasik section of NH-3 and Mumbai - Vadodara section of NH-8. The new generation of roads called expressways have been envisaged to be developed in India to meet the increasing demand of inter-urban travel. These expressways are being planned to ensure safe, economic, uninterrupted and speedy travel between places with full access control at limited locations through grid separated interchanges. Expressways would rank the highest in the hierarchical order of the national road network classification system. |
