Land, water, building material from local sources (e.g. stones, rock and gravel) steel, cement, heavy machinery and construction equipment are some of the resource inputs to the proposed project.

It is obvious from Fig. 3 that landtake for construction of airport building and ancillary structures (residential complex for maintenance staff, offices, labour camps and unplanned peripheral urbanization) is expected to cause a significant resource diversion to the project site. Earthworks for levelling of the site and utilisation of impounded water are major activities during the construction phase that are likely to induce some changes in the terrestrial and aquatic ecology of the area.
