Department of Science and Technology sponsored Training Workshop on “Biodiversity Conservation” for women scientists/ technologists from 19th -23rd March, 2018 at Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun

Department of Science and Technology (DST) has launched a scheme “National Training Programme for Scientists & Technologists working in Government Sector” under the ‘DISHA’ Scheme. As a part of this scheme, the DST has initiated training programmes exclusively for women scientists/technologists. The scheme has been proved to be very popular and meaningful initiative towards capacity building and empowering the women scientists and technologists in a holistic manner.

The main objectives of the scheme are (i) to expose Indian scientists/technologists to latest scientific, technological, economic and social developments in the country, (ii) to provide a forum for interaction, experience-sharing and exchange of views amongst scientific community and (iii) to generate responsiveness amongst scientists to the needs and expectations of the citizens of the country.

As a part of this scheme, the Wildlife Institute of India is organizing one-week training workshop on ‘Biodiversity Conservation’ at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun from 19th-23rd March 2018. The candidate should preferably hold a Ph.D/M.tech/M.Sc. degree and be actively involved in research and development. Interested participants (Group ‘A’ scientists and technologists) are required to forward their nomination form through the competent authority of the parent organization for the above training workshop.

A maximum of 25 participants would be admitted to the workshop on first come first serve basis. Preference would be given to the younger professionals. The DST will bear all cost of the training including boarding and lodging of the participant. However, travel cost will have to be borne by the parent organization of the candidate.
