| Dr. S.R. Wate currently heads the Environmental Impact and Risk Assessment Division. He has been associated with many R&D and consultancy projects in the field of EIA. The EIRA group under his leadership is presently engaged in many EIA projects in various sectors including hydrocarbon, mining, petrochemicals, fertilizers, ports and harbours.
He has been very actively associated in promoting new methodologies in EIA studies and due to his innovative contributions, NEERI is continuously engaged by various industries for conducting EIA studies. Dr. Wate worked as National EIA specialist in MoEF sponsored project to prepare National EIA guidance manual for various sectors of industries. His leadership qualities are reflected through his involvement in Management Council of Institute during 1991-2000 and as Secretary Regional Advisory Board specially constituted by NEERI’s Research Council during 1990-95 and his nomination as a resource person for WHO and Commonwealth Council. He has also been associated with recently completed Sethusamudram ship channel project and several EIA and SEA projects for World Bank, UNDP, ADA, UNEP, WHO, MoEF, DBT, DST, Pollution Control Board and many private and public sector industries. He has about 100 research papers and more than 350 technical reports to his credit. |
