| Mr. Batu Uprety has been associated with the Environmental Assessment (EA) system since 1983. He started teaching EA in M. Sc. Programme since 2000. He was involved in developing national EIA guidelines and Sectoral EIA guidelines for Nepal in 1990s.
He has published 170 popular articles written on the subject of environmental management in EA and biodiversity and has also published two books (i) Environmental Conservation and Sustainable Development (Nepali language), 2001; and (ii) Environmental Impact Assessment: Process and Practice (English language), 2003. He has received a letter of appreciation from the then Ministry of Population and Environment, Government of Nepal on 5 June 2000, Royal Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (RONAST) during Science and Technology Exhibition in January 1984, and National Committee for Man and the Biosphere on 5 June 1993 for his work in the field of environmental management. He also received RONAST Science and Technology Award, 2005 for his work on EA. |
