Training objectives and target group

This training programme was organised with an aim to improve the scientific and technical abilities of resource managers and other PA staff to evaluate, address and monitor the critical concerns linked to choices of activities, policies and programmes that are being implemented under India-Ecodevelopment Project.
The following were the specific objectives of the training.

Provide participants with a broad understanding of the theory and practice of environmental impact assessment and other emerging disciplines relevant for environmental review. |

Enhance capability and skills of management planning officers and other PA staff to plan, conduct and review impacts of investments and activities under India-Ecodevelopment Project being implemented at the GEF sites. |

Acquire better understanding of impact evaluation and mitigation approaches in the context of activities under GEF India-Ecodevelopment Project. |

Attempt environmental review of specific ecodevelopment activities initiated at each site through the application of knowledge acquired during the workshop. |

Share information and experience for better integration of biodiversity conservation concerns in future ecodevelopment planning initiatives and the effective monitoring of the success of this project. |
