Forest Area

1. Wherever forested areas are acquired for project purpose, compensatory afforestation should be done over equivalent area of i1on- forest land (Forest Conservation Act 1980). 2. As far as possible, the non- forest land for compensatory afforestation should be identified in consultation with the state department in an area contiguous with the reserved or protected forest to enable the forest department to effectively manage the newly planted areas. 3. Compensatory afforestation will have to be done in an area equivalent to forest land acquired for ROW. 4. The plantation should have locally occurring miscellaneous species so that these offer the habitat miscellany for avian and terrestrial species as well as meet the needs of local people. .Some suggested names are given in Annexure- VI. 5. These plantations should be monitored atleast for 7 years to afford protection during the establishment period. 6. Clear felling for construction purposes should be restricted to a minimum possible width subject to a maximum strip width of 12 meters. No felling , pollarding or pruning of trees would be done for maintaining the pipeline operation outside this 10 meters cleared strip. 7. The Right of Way (ROW) should be restricted to a maximum of 20 meter strip along the proposed pipeline route. |
