Enhance appreciation of the importance of environmental assessment as a decision support tool to regulate development. |

Make adequate and appropriate contributions to the contents of the full EIA starting at the scoping stage so as to improve the environmental design of the proposed project. |

Arrive at a common understanding of the biodiversity-inclusive EIA framework within which to review the EIA reports. |

Enable reviewers to assess the completeness of the information required as well as its quality. |

Review scope, efficacy and feasibility of mitigation options including cost that are proposed in the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) of development projects. |

Enable the reviewers to make an overall assessment of the acceptability of the proposed development taking into account the environment, ecological (forest and wildlife) and social imperatives. |
