Training objectives

Enhance appreciation of the importance of environmental assessment as a decision support tool to regulate development.
Make adequate and appropriate contributions to the contents of the full EIA starting at the scoping stage so as to improve the environmental design of the proposed project.
Arrive at a common understanding of the biodiversity-inclusive EIA framework within which to review the EIA reports.
Enable reviewers to assess the completeness of the information required as well as its quality.
Review scope, efficacy and feasibility of mitigation options including cost that are proposed in the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) of development projects.
Enable the reviewers to make an overall assessment of the acceptability of the proposed development taking into account the environment, ecological (forest and wildlife) and social imperatives.

Member represent individuals and organizations from all sectors: government, industry, training, research, academia, consultancy and community.
