13. Any other comments/observations/suggestions you wish to make about the sponsoring of training course in future and the suggested topics/themes. ?

  •
Session on wetland conservation may be included.
  •
WII should suggest a menu of mitigation options with an indication of how successfully each mitigation option is likely to be.
  •
As purely scientific institution, WII should recommend on scientific merit only and not on economic merit.
  •
WII should look at inland waterways as linear infrastructure too.
  •
People may be called based on position they were holding – example APCCF (FC) in Karnataka – who deals with FC proposals the nodal officer of state on these issues. This may help in increasing the impact of this programme as these officers would be directly involved in policy making on these issues.
  •
The ecofriendly measures to mitigate impacts of linear infrastructure projects is a good effort, kindly organize one-day seminar for State field officers.
  •
This a very good workshop, should be organized for State Service Officers (DFO Level).
  •
8. Mainstreaming biodiversity impact assessment needs to give emphasis on ecosystem diversity part.
  •
Sessions on mainstreaming biodiversity should elaborate the quantifiable parameters of genetic species & ecosystem diversity in impact assessment to get similar results by different agencies assessing impacts.
  •
Exposure to mapping of migratory birds’ routes to reduce bird mortality.
  •
More case studies of EIA should be included with details and also the impacts should be discussed in the classes.
  •
The training should be of longer duration.
  •
Nodal officer of Forest Conservation Act at PCCF Office of each state may be assembled for this training workshop.
